D. Charles Miller, Ltd. is a small independent publisher.
We are small with a purpose, and on purpose.
Over fifteen years ago, we began as something else. We were a photo and video production house — we made our living telling other people's stories through a lens. Now we do it in print, for writers most people overlook.
Staying independent means we answer to nobody but the work.
We pride ourselves on finding good stories from people who are just beginning.

We give a voice to the little guys. The ones who have talent, yet cannot seem to get a break.
Good work gets turned away all the time, and most of the time it has nothing to do with the work. We asked ourselves, what if you have no degree? No agent?
Nobody to vouch for you? The door is narrow, and a lot of people knocking on it get told no by somebody who never opened the envelope, never read the whole draft, never got past the first page. They judged you on a few sentences.
We open the envelope. We read it, and some of it is really good.
We're selective, because being small means we can be. When we take something on, it gets everything we've got.
